Charlie Newhart has established himself as one of the most unique stand-up comedians while simultaneously distinguishing himself as a powerful and versatile actor in a variety of film and theater projects.
Raised in the Detroit suburb of Romulus Michigan he began his career as the class clown who was given the last 5 minutes of class to tell jokes. His clean material has allowed him to work a wide variety of audiences across the country including clubs, churches and private events. Combining energetic gestures, clever wordplay and deep observations about human behavior this is a comedy show the whole family can enjoy. He has opened for several artists and comedians including Christian artist Canton Jones at Detroit World Outreach Church and comedian Shaun Majumder at MGM Grand Casino. As an Actor he recently portrayed ‘Tom Robinson’ in the classic play “To Kill a Mockingbird.” News columnist Jenn Mckee wrote, “Newhart is solid and sincere as Tom, and gets a chance to shine through the characters testimony.” Newhart will next be seen alongside Judge Mathis, Roger Guenveur Smith and Tommie Hearns in the highly anticipated film, “Cornerstore” which is set to be released in Summer 2011.
Newhart resides in Canton, MI with his wife and children.
